One of my favorite icons of bad drive-in cinema died on Friday. Tura Satana was the centerpiece of the 1965 cult film “Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!” in which she played Varla, the leader of a go-go gang that kidnaps a couple, murders the man and coerces the woman into joining the gang's lawless adventures. It's a film full of priceless one-liners, such as when a pump jockey ogles Varla's ample bosom while rambling on about seeing America, Varla retorts, “you won’t find it down there, Columbus!”
I bet there's a silver Porsche 356 waiting for her in heaven.
