Instead of baubles I have 28 white cranes on my Christmas tree this year in memory of the people killed in the Sandy Hook incident. I thought about this a lot, probably too much, considering all the people who died over the past year, are these people any more or less special than others, etc, etc. I had to shut off that channel and just make the cranes.
I don't believe that folding up sheets of paper will have any impact on the souls of these people, but I do hope that the meditative, sort of prayerful action of shaping flat paper into symbols of peace will work its way into the universe and maybe change something somewhere else.
